Job summary

AMD is seeking a highly motivated Firmware Engineering intern/co-op to join our team. You will work with engineering staff to design, develop, and deliver firmware for AMD’s discrete and embedded products, gaining real-world experience on reference hardware and emulation environments.

You will participate in design and code reviews, document your work, and learn AGILE software practices. This role is full-time with hybrid or onsite options for eligible US university students.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a US-based university in a bachelor’s program (Electrical/CS/Engineering).
• Knowledge of C/C++ and hardware architectures is required or strongly encouraged.
• Familiarity with embedded systems, RTOS, and basic hardware concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Craft, implement, debug, and validate firmware features on reference hardware and sim environments.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning to deliver quality firmware.
• Create clear documentation for software produced and support internal/external platforms.
• Learn and apply AGILE methodologies and standard software engineering processes.
