Job summary

Gwinnett County Government seeks Firefighter/Paramedic Trainee candidates to train under supervision in the department's emergency division. Duties include responding to fires, accidents, and medical emergencies; participating in inspections, prevention activities, station maintenance, and training; and performing related work as required.

Applicants must pass a comprehensive background investigation and pre-employment drug test, and must successfully complete EMS licensure and firefighter

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required for certification purposes.
• Successful completion of state EMS licensure and firefighter certification during academy.
• Must pass comprehensive background checks and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fire suppression and life rescue using department equipment.
• Provide basic emergency medical care after patient assessment.
• Operate and inspect fire apparatus and ambulances, and assist with reports.
• Deliver fire and life safety education to the public.
• Participate in regular training programs and ongoing skill development.
