Job summary

The City of Washington seeks a Firefighter/EMT to provide firefighting and EMS services at scenes of emergencies, and to maintain apparatus and equipment for response. You will operate life-support techniques, participate in rescue and salvage, and document all incidents for billing and accountability.

Required are a NC HS diploma or GED, Firefighter I & II within 12 months (or EMT with TSOP), and a NC Class B license. Training will be provided; benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Requires NC EMT and completed local TSOP; must obtain Firefighter I & II within 12 months of employment.
• If you are a Certified Firefighter I & II and don’t have NC EMT, you must obtain EMT and local TSOP within 12 months of employment.
• Valid North Carolina Class B driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fires and emergency calls; administers life support techniques per patient assessment.
• Assists with fire suppression, rescue, entry, ventilation and salvage operations.
• Operates fire and EMS equipment as certified.
• Completes records and reports for fire/EMS calls for billing and accountability.
• Attends in-service classes to maintain knowledge of fire suppression and EMS.
