Guilford County Government delivers fire and life safety services across the county. The position requires operating emergency vehicles, performing fire suppression and technical rescues, and assisting with pre-fire planning and training.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of firefighting experience (3 years volunteer equals 1 year). The role demands physical fitness, driving certification, and certification in Firefighter II and EMT among others.

Qualificações

• Knowledge of firefighting procedures, technical rescue and hazmat operations.
• Ability to use computer programs to maintain records and databases.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Function as a Firefighter on a multi-person Rescue Company; drive and operate emergency equipment.
• Engage in fire suppression, technical rescues, vehicle extrication and surface/water rescue.
• Maintain and prepare apparatus, equipment and facilities for response.
• Assist with pre-fire planning, training and public education.
• Support fire investigations to determine origin and cause.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
