Job summary

The City of Alvarado seeks a dedicated firefighter to protect life and property through firefighting, emergency medical services, rescue and related duties under the Captain’s direction.

The role requires maintaining equipment, training, fire prevention, reporting, and public demonstrations; candidates must hold Texas Basic Firefighter and EMT-B certifications, a valid TX driver’s license, and pass background and fitness requirements.

Qualifications

• Must hold Texas Basic Firefighter certification (TCFP).
• Must hold EMT-B certification (Texas).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must hold or obtain NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within one year of hire.
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to fire, rescue, and hazmat incidents.
• Operates fire apparatus, equipment, and vehicles.
• Provides EMS care including CPR and airway management.
• Conducts training, public demonstrations, and community outreach.
• Completes reports and testing of equipment.
