Job summary

Prince George’s County Government’s Police Department seeks qualified applicants for Firearms and Currency Custody Supervisor (Supply Property Clerk 4P) in the Evidence & Property Division. Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a Supply/Property Clerk III.

• Equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may be considered.
• Preferred: experience with RMS, NCIC and METERS; some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

The Prince George’s County Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill Firearms and Currency Custody Supervisor (Supply Property Clerk 4P), grade P14 positions in the Evidence & Property Division.

About this Position

This is first line supervisory work in the supply/property/materials management operation. Incumbents assume a primary role in the administration of a major inventory control/supply activity. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of a designated supervisor and is evaluated as it contributes to achieving organizational objectives.

• Supervises the daily activities related to the collection, storage, retrieval, release, and purging of property collected by the department.
• Ensures adequate staffing.
• Ensures subordinates complete all required training and maintain necessary certifications to perform their duties.
• Controls access to the property vault.
• Maintains and/or creates accurate records of held property and all property transactions.
• Ensures retrieved property is packaged correctly, identified, and documented accurately.
• Verifies the eligibility of property to be purged in accordance with the retention schedule and the Division’s SOPs.
• Reviews and/or prepares all paperwork for property removed from the warehouse.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Maintains minimum physical conditioning to perform duties such as walking up and down ladder stairs while carrying property.
• Operates specialty equipment safely.
• Writes and reviews correspondence for the return of guns and ammunition.
• Works in partnership with internal and external customers to assist in finding resolution to immediate problems.
• Performs tasks not specifically listed in the job description that are within the general occupational category and responsibility typically associated with this class of work.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have six (6) months of experience as a Supply/Property Clerk III

or

• Possess high school diploma or GED certificate
• Three (3) years of experience in varied procurement and materiel management activities including inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, distributing, invoicing, and stocking a broad variety of equipment, materials and supplies

Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computer systems and software applications such as the Records Management System (RMS), National Crime Information Center Database (NCIC) and Maryland Telecommunications Enforcement Resources System (METERS)
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal and external customers
• Some supervisory experience

• Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
