Job summary

Prince George’s County Police Department seeks a Firearms and Currency Custody Supervisor (Supply Property Clerk 4P) to lead the Evidence & Property Division’s inventory and property control operations across county facilities.

The role supervises daily property processes, ensures staff training and compliance, maintains accurate property records, and safeguards guns and ammunition while coordinating with internal and external partners. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a Supply/Property Clerk III.
• Three years of experience in procurement and materiel management including inventory, warehousing, purchasing, invoicing, and stocking.
• Any equivalent combination of training or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities related to the collection, storage, retrieval, release, and purging of property.
• Ensures adequate staffing.
• Ensures subordinates complete training and maintain certifications.
• Controls access to the property vault.
• Maintains accurate records of held property and all property transactions.
• Verifies eligibility of property to be purged per retention schedule and SOPs.
• Prepares paperwork for property removed from the warehouse.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Operates specialty equipment safely.
• Writes and reviews correspondence for the return of guns and ammunition.
• Works with internal and external customers to resolve problems.
• Performs tasks within the general occupational category and responsibility.
