Job summary

Hendersonville Fire Department seeks an experienced Training Officer to oversee comprehensive shift training across the department. You will plan, coordinate, and deliver classroom and field instruction, ensuring adherence to NFPA standards and state regulations.

You may command fire ground operations during incidents as directed by Incident Command. You will manage training records, maintain certifications, and provide logistical support for training facilities and equipment while promoting

Qualifications

• Associate degree in fire science or related field; 3 years in municipal fire dept. or equivalent
• Rank of Fire Lieutenant or Assistant Fire Marshal preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, develop, and maintain training programs and materials per NFPA and OHSA guidance
• Plan, schedule, coordinate and implement training programs and exercises
• Maintain certifications and training records for assigned personnel
• Assist with fire inspections and equipment maintenance
• Provide logistical support and supervise training facilities and resources
• Demonstrate leadership to ensure safe, effective training delivery
