Job summary

Bedford County, Virginia seeks a Training Coordinator for Fire & Rescue to oversee the delivery of EMT and Firefighter Level I and II training, maintain records, coordinate instructors, and ensure OEMS and VDFP compliance.

The role requires a high school diploma, Fire Officer I and Fire Instructor II, and strong communication and leadership skills to support emergency services professionals.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school required, Associate’s degree preferred
• Must possess Fire Officer I and Fire Instructor II and maintain Firefighter I/II Train-the-Trainer endorsement or obtain within 12 months
• Some college in fire administration, organizational leadership, adult learning, or EMS preferred
• Minimum five years’ field experience in fire/EMS training and instructional delivery
• Paramedic level certification preferred and VA EMS Education Coordinator endorsement preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver EMT and Firefighter Level I/II training using OEMS and VDFP guidelines
• Develop policies to ensure a safe and effective training environment
• Maintain training records, equipment, and calendar; manage instructors and budget
• Represent the department at meetings with public safety agencies and the community
