Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Kitchen Suppression Technician to perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems in Carlstadt, NJ. The role covers wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems and requires precise documentation of findings.

The position demands 3+ years in fire and life safety, blueprints reading, and independent work ability. NICET Level I+ is preferred; a valid driver's license with a clean record is required if driving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety as an apprentice or technician.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire suppression systems.
• Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related components.
• Perform functional testing to verify proper operation and code compliance.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions; communicate findings to customers and supervisors.
• Read and interpret blueprints, system layouts, reports, and manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete inspection reports and service records accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members about progress and status.
• Follow all safety procedures and site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
