Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Special Hazards Technician to install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair special hazard fire suppression systems in commercial and residential settings. You will ensure compliance with codes, manufacturer specs, and company safety standards.

The role requires NICET 2 certification or equivalent, 2+ years in fire protection, and knowledge of NFPA codes. A valid driving record and flexible schedule (including some evenings and out-of-town work) are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with commercial and residential systems.
• NICET 2 certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Special Hazards.
• 2+ years of experience in fire protection, alarm, sprinkler, or special hazards systems.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 12, NFPA 17, NFPA 17A, NFPA 72, NFPA 2001, and applicable local codes.
• Experience with clean agent and industrial suppression systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, inspect, and repair special hazard fire suppression systems.
• Install or upgrade suppression systems in commercial and residential buildings.
• Test and repair systems already in place.
• Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed according to code.
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
• Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
• Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, safely.
• Work in a safe manner per safety procedures, including driver safety and PPE.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Must be flexible with scheduling including evenings, weekends, and out-of-town assignments.
• Requires knowledge of fire safety principles and regulations.
