Job summary

The City of Saint Paul is seeking a Fire Buildings Repairer to maintain and repair fire department facilities, systems and equipment at multiple sites. The role emphasizes problem solving, hands-on maintenance and coordination with trades staff.

Candidate will work on site 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with no remote work. Must have boiler license, refrigeration cert, and a valid Minnesota Class D license. City offers health, retirement, and paid time off benefits.

Qualifications

• Special Engineer Boiler License required.
• Two years of experience in construction, maintenance, or repair of building structures and mechanical equipment.
• Must possess EPA Type I and II Refrigeration Technician Certification within six months of appointment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repair of building structures, HVAC, plumbing, equipment, machinery, appliances, furniture and fixtures.
• Maintain and operate a Building Automation System (BAS).
• Fabricate equipment parts from raw stock such as ducts, frames, racks and shelving, signs, cabinets, and training equipment.
• Operate equipment such as snow blowers, snowplows, forklifts, and lawn mowers to maintain facilities.
• Maintain records on boilers, work orders, inventory, etc.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, diagrams, maintenance manuals, and blueprints.
• Provide assistance to and coordinate the work of contractors, trades, maintenance, and other department staff.
