Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking apprentices to assist with the installation of fire protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications. You may work alternative shifts or weekends and must perform duties safely and professionally.

You will assist the foreman with sprinkler systems installation, follow safety policies, maintain documentation, and participate in Grinnell’s approved Apprenticeship Program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Assist foreman in installing wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed.
• Carry/move equipment up to 70 lbs and perform physical labor.
• Work in unusual positions, including ladders and scaffolding; high-lift operation as needed.
• Keep the work area clean and safe at all times.
• Enroll in Grinnell’s Apprenticeship Program and meet all requirements.
