Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring for an apprentice to learn and assist in installing fire protection piping, valves, and related components for commercial and industrial applications. The role requires shifts or weekend work as needed, and adherence to safety standards.

Applicants must be enrolled in an approved Apprenticeship Program and able to perform physical labor with a valid driver's license. The position offers an hourly wage range and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship
• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format
• Enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program, maintaining all requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required, minimum 18 years of age, valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Assist foreman in the installation of sprinkler systems
• Follow all safety policies and maintain proper documentation
• Carry/move equipment and tools up to 70 lbs and perform physical labor
• Work in unusual or difficult positions (ladder/scaffolding/high lift) as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Be enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program and meet all Standards
