Job summary

Impact Fire Services is seeking a trainee helper to learn the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. You will assist in inspection, service, installation, and maintenance on commercial sprinkler systems under the guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter.

The role involves site cleanup, unloading, staging, and material distribution, and cutting and threading pipe as needed. You will learn applicable fire protection codes, work toward state licensing, and support in maintaining a safe work environment

Qualifications

• Follow verbal work instructions and directions.
• Capable of working independently with moderate supervision.
• Able to work in a team under time pressure.
• Willingness to learn installation, inspection and servicing codes.
• Physically capable as per requirements.
• Valid driver's license and driving record.
• Able to pass pre-employment background, MVR and drug test.
• Experience in fire protection or commercial customer service is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of pipe fitting or electrical work is helpful.

Responsibilities

Job description

This position is considered atraineewho is learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. To assist in the inspection, service, installation, and maintenance on commercial sprinkler systems in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements. This position may be responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site. Position will also cut and thread pipe. May install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter. Position receives guidance and direction regarding day to day work tasks from a Sprinkler Fitter. Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining applicable state licensing. The Helper is also responsible for assisting in maintaining a clean, well-organized vehicle and ensuring a safe environment for his/herself, co-workers, and customers.

Responsibilities include

• Work with the Fitter to achieve any tasks necessary to complete work on a given job site in a timely, effective manner.
• Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licensing.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including the driving, personal protective equipment, and lockout/tag-out policies.
• Maintain their vehicle in accordance with company procedures and ensure it is clean and organized.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Fitter and/or the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.

• A commercial sprinkler systems background or a basic level of comfort and knowledge with pipe fitting, electrical work, and commercial sprinkler system fittings.
• An ability to provide services across multiple product lines.
• Working habits and personal appearance which are both neat and well organized.
