Job summary

Impact Fire Services in Austin, TX is seeking a trainee to learn the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. The position may involve site cleanup, unloading, staging, and distributing work materials, as well as cutting and threading pipe under close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter.

You will work with the Fitter to complete tasks, learn fire protection codes, care for equipment and vehicles, and maintain a clean, safe job site.

Qualifications

• Follow verbal work instructions/directions.
• Capable of working independently and completing duties and projects with moderate supervision.
• Demonstrate the initiative to learn skills of the trade.
• Ability to learn applicable installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
• Ability to perform physical activities outlined in the accompanying physical requirements checklist.
• Ability to read labels, signage and directions along with basic math computation skills.
• Demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
• Strong organization skills, positive attitude, and ability to quickly learn.
• Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.

Job description

This position is considered a trainee who is learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. This position may be responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site. Position will also cut and thread pipe. May install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkle Fitter. Position receives guidance and direction regarding day-to-day work tasks from a Sprinkler Fitter. Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining applicable state licensing. The Helper is also responsible for assisting in maintaining a clean, well-organized vehicle and ensuring a safe environment for his/herself, co-workers, and customers.
