Job summary

Summit Fire & Security in Mendota Heights, MN is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Apprentice to assist in laying out, fabricating, installing, and maintaining piping and sprinkler systems. Ideal candidate is coachable, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn under Journeymen.

You will gain hands-on experience with pipe installation, blueprints, material calculations, and proper installation techniques while working under supervision.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Must enroll and obtain current Fire Sprinkler License.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Basic hand tool knowledge.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Basic math skills.
• Troubleshooting ability.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and plan work.

Responsibilities

• Assist and learn under the direction of Sprinkler Technician Journeymen: install pipe systems and valves, cut, thread, assemble and bond pipes and tubes per specs, modify/clean/maintain systems, replace worn components.
• Learn to follow blueprints to meet product specifications.
• Learn how to calculate material measurements to verify specs.
• Learn proper installation techniques.
• Other duties may be assigned.
