Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of firefighting experience or equivalent.
  • Must hold Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training certifications for Firefighter, Instructor I/II/III and Live Fire Training.
  • Ability to conduct training activities, prepare reports and maintain records.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops handout materials to communicate drill criteria, uniforms and firearm considerations.
  • Solicits course offerings from employing agencies for program certification needs.
  • Obtains guidance from state and federal agencies to ensure proper program delivery.
  • Provides daily instructor and program support with handouts, textbooks, supplies and facility access.
  • Reviews curriculum for instruction blocks and prepares examinations accordingly.
  • Monitors all program phases to ensure compliance with Florida standards and guidelines.
  • Interviews and schedules large groups of instructors for blocks of instruction and reserves facilities.
  • Schedules attendance records and examination scoring for the 492 Hour Fire I and II programs.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Six years of prior-related experience in a fire department
