Overview

We are looking for a certified Firefighter/Paramedic to start a Paramedic program. This position requires meeting CoAEMPS/CAAHEP Prog. Dir. and Florida Statute 64J.1.0201 requirements. This position is full time, 12 months a year with benefits.

Qualifications
  • Education: A master’s degree is required.
  • Experience: Certified Firefighter/Paramedic with teaching experience at a community college level.
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Certified Firefighter/Paramedic.
  • Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.
  • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Reaching activities (dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead).
  • Other Requirements: Travel to various school sites, work locations and/or community organizations throughout the district.
Responsibilities
  • Supervisory expectations: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel; oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams; interview, hire, train, appraise, reward, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems in accordance with district policies and applicable state and federal laws.

District expectations: All district employees must demonstrate regular and predictable attention to work; support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan; engage in civility, respect, and professionalism; maintain professional knowledge and skills.
