Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is hiring a Security Service Technician to service and maintain security systems including fire alarms, intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. The role emphasizes independent work, customer satisfaction, and code compliance.

You will read blueprints and manuals, travel to job sites, document service activities, and coordinate with customers and teammates to ensure safety and reliability across commercial environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• FAL Texas Fire Alarm License required.
• Texas Security license required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
