Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Commercial Service Technician to independently service and maintain security systems, including intrusion alarms, access control, and CCTV. You will diagnose issues, ensure compliance with codes, and perform preventive maintenance across multiple sites in the region.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years in fire and life safety, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
