Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking a Student Assistant - Dept Clerk in Fire Science to provide clerical support within the Public Service Education office. This is a continuous pool position for as-needed assignments, open to current Del Mar College students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.

The role covers answering phones, greeting the public, filing, mail distribution, and general office tasks. Strong attention to detail and confidentiality are required; Excel/Word skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Current Del Mar College student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours while employed.
• General office skills including answering calls, taking messages, customer relations and data entry.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to be a team player.
• Ability to complete clerical duties with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greet the public.
• Answer phones and retrieve voice mail messages.
• Take detailed messages and distribute to staff members. Create student folders, file, and organize. Other office duties as assigned.
• Collect and distribute interoffice mail and documents.
• Create file labels.
• Create student files.
• Accurately file documents.
