Job summary

The City of Hampton seeks a qualified professional to revise and develop standard operating procedures for senior management review and to compose performance indicators for the Fire Accreditation process.

You may supervise others and work under close supervision according to established procedures, contributing to emergency planning, grant management, and continuous improvement across the Fire Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent analytical experience including research, data compilation, and statistical analysis.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze fire service operations using industry standards, OSHA regulations, and accreditation criteria.
  • Develop, review, and maintain SOPs and document control systems.
  • Assist with emergency operations planning, including COOP, All Hazards, and hurricane response plans.
  • Prepare MOAs, MOUs, contracts, and other formal documents with partner agencies.
  • Research, write, and manage grant applications and compliance reporting.
  • Support Fire Accreditation (CFAI) efforts by developing performance measures and compiling documentation.
  • Analyze operational data to establish performance benchmarks and improve service delivery.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for Fire leadership.
  • Assist with strategic planning initiatives and monitor progress toward Division goals.
  • Lead special projects and collaborate with regional agencies and community partners.
  • Support training initiatives, ISO activities, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job description

What You'll Do:
  • Research and analyze fire service operations using industry standards, OSHA regulations, and accreditation criteria.

  • Assist with emergency operations planning, including COOP, All Hazards, and hurricane response plans.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Statistics, or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent analytical experience to include conducting research, compiling data, and completing statistical analysis or closely related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
Additional Requirements:
  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • May require working evenings and weekends.
  • Considerable contact with local, regional, state, and national organizations.
  • May require occasional travel, both locally and regionally.
  • The incumbent is considered “essential personnel” during City emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
