Job summary

Augusta County Fire-Rescue seeks a Fire Rescue Lieutenant to lead and mentor both career and volunteer staff, focusing on training, development, and operational excellence to serve Augusta County citizens.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily staffing, responding to emergencies, ensuring policy adherence, conducting evaluations, and fostering teamwork across stations under the direction of the Battalion Chief.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with firefighting experience.
• Virginia EMS EMT or higher certification required; multiple certifications listed in posting.
• Fire Officer I and Fire Instructor I and VDFP training credentials are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides input and recommendations to supervisory staff and administration.
• Supervises/mentors subordinate staff and ensures policy adherence.
• Manages staffing to meet daily needs and ensure readiness of personnel/equipment.
• Attends to emergencies, assumes command as needed, drives/operates equipment.
• Reviews timesheets and submits reports through the chain of command.
• Assists with training needs and staff development, monitors staff performance.
• Participates in drills, inspections, and post-incident investigations.
• Performs related tasks as assigned.
