Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of firefighting and rescue techniques, apparatus and equipment, hydraulics, and hazardous materials
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal fire codes, NFPA guidelines, departmental and County rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and regional geography, streets, buildings, and fire hydrant locations
• Proficiency in building construction and basic mechanics, recognizing potential fire hazards, and interpersonal relations.
• Mastery of first aid and CPR

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, explosions, and other emergencies.
• Performs search, rescue, extrication, forcible entry, and ventilation to save lives and protect property.
• Maintains readiness by inspecting equipment, stocking supplies, and testing hoses and pumps.
• Participates in training, drills, and continuing education to stay current with regulations and techniques.
• Performs general maintenance tasks to keep vehicles, buildings, and tools in operable condition.
