Job summary

BSF - Boston Fire in Tewksbury, MA, is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Suppression System Technician to install, inspect, and repair fire extinguishers and suppression systems. A state license is required. Responsibilities include annual extinguisher maintenance, proper placement, and collaborating with customers and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; certifications in fire extinguishers and suppression systems preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Proficiency in NFPA standards (10, 13, 17, 17a, 25, 72, 96) or related manuals.
• Experience as a Fire Technician is preferred.
• Valid driver's license; ability to pass drug and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of fire extinguishers based on hazard/occupancy.
• Exchange extinguishers requiring service; replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Install fire extinguisher cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers.
• Indicate type, size, and location of extinguishers on reports.
• Perform semi-annual and annual inspections of kitchen hood suppression, fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
• Document findings and note deficiencies on inspection reports.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to customers.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and team members for repairs and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance on fire suppression systems; operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Build partnerships to grow business within the industry.
• Adhere to safety guidelines for personal and others' safety.
