Job summary

Thompson Safety is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Suppression System Technician in Massachusetts. You will install, inspect, and service fire extinguishers and suppression systems (Kitchen Hoods) and ensure compliance with applicable licenses and standards.

Responsibilities include annual and semi-annual inspections, proper placement of extinguishers, and collaboration with customers and contractors to maintain and repair systems. A valid state license and hands-on toolkit are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; certifications in extinguishers and suppression preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Experience as Fire Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards (10, 13, 17, 17a, 25, 72, 96) and manuals (Ansul, Amerex, CaptiveAire).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug and background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform Annual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of fire extinguishers based on hazard/occupancy classification.
• Exchange fire extinguishers that require service; replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Install fire extinguisher cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers.
• Indicate type, size, and location of extinguishers on inspection reports.
• Perform Semi-Annual and Annual inspections of restaurant/industrial fire suppression, fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
• Document findings and note deficiencies on inspection reports.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to the customer.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and team members for maintenance and repair of systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance on fire suppression, sprinkler, and alarm systems; including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Build partnerships to grow business in the industry marketplace.
• Adhere to safety guidelines for personal and team safety.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
