Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks current fire protection engineering students for a Summer 2027 Internship in our Fire Protection Engineering practice, on-site in Chicago, IL; Northbrook, IL; Dallas, TX; San Antonio, TX; and San Diego, CA.

As an Intern, you will work with leading experts, applying classroom knowledge to real-world problems, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to field investigations, code analysis, and client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Current student with excellent academic standing in junior or senior year of a fire protection engineering program
• From an accredited program focusing on fire protection and life safety

Responsibilities

• Assist on-site investigations, condition assessments, and inspections
• Organize field data and research construction documents, building codes, and design guidelines
• Perform analysis of fire protection systems and building code issues under licensed professionals
• Assist with preparation of client deliverables, including construction documents, specifications and reports
• Contribute to in-house technical research projects
