Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Fire Protection Engineering or related undergraduate/graduate program with anticipated graduation August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Fire Protection & Life Safety or related field and a desire to advance skills.
• Proven ability to communicate ideas clearly to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Able to take direction from mentors and leaders to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and common tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Research building code, life safety code, and fire code requirements (ICC/NFPA, IBC, NFPA 101).
• Assist design of fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection, alarms, smoke management, egress).
• Prepare fire engineering calculations and smoke modeling from simple to 3D modeling.
• Assist commissioning of fire alarm, suppression, smoke control, and life safety systems.
• Support review of architectural drawings for code compliance and document fire safety basis of design.
