Job summary

gpac is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for the Indianapolis area to design and review fire protection systems across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and mission-critical projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure life-safety and code compliance throughout design and construction.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in fire protection system design, NFPA codes, and life-safety engineering with a minimum of three years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
• Experience designing fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fire protection systems including sprinkler, alarm, and life safety systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and system analysis.
• Prepare design drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Review project requirements, codes, and standards for compliance.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Conduct site surveys and field evaluations as necessary.
• Support permitting, plan review, and AHJ coordination.
• Provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
• Participate in project meetings and design reviews.
