Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. You will develop comprehensive fire protection designs, including sprinkler and suppression systems, and act as QFPE on federal projects to ensure life safety and code compliance.

You will collaborate with sales and clients, perform site assessments, and mentor junior staff while contributing to innovative, sustainable solutions across diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Developing fire protection engineering designs including sprinkler and suppression system layouts.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects and do life safety analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA, UFC and local regulations.
• Review and sign off on draft designs and calculations.
• Collaborate with sales on proposals and client meetings.
• Conduct site assessments to align with standards and local requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers on projects.
