Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and review fire protection systems for projects including federal work. The role supports life safety analyses, code compliance, and design sign-offs across multiple offices, with travel as required. A PE license and 7 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
PE license required.
At least 7 years of related experience in fire protection.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

Develop fire protection designs, including sprinkler and alarm systems.
Act as QFPE for federal projects and ensure life safety compliance.
Review designs for NFPA/UFC compliance and sign off.
Conduct site assessments and client reviews to align with standards.
Mentor junior staff and support project team on design tasks.
Collaborate with sales to prepare compliant proposals.
