Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in the United States. You will develop fire protection designs, including water supply, hydraulics, and sprinkler systems, to protect lives and property.

You will act as QFPE for federal projects, review designs for compliance with NFPA/UFC and local codes, and collaborate with sales and clients to define robust solutions. The role supports hybrid work across several offices, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE license required.
• 7 years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; incumbents may work across multiple offices.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive fire protection designs, including water supply, hydraulics, and sprinkler systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects, focusing on life safety and fire protection analysis.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and local regulations and sign off on drawings.
• Collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs and meet client design needs.
• Lead site assessments and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
