Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; college level coursework in fire code inspection, fire prevention, fire science, or related field desirable.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Two years of experience in fire prevention inspection or enforcement of fire-related codes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect industrial plants, commercial establishments and public assembly venues for code compliance and issue permits.
• Review building plans for fire and life safety compliance and coordinate with developers and architects.
• Investigate complaints and abate hazards; coordinate with City Attorney as needed.
• Plan and conduct fire safety education programs for schools and the community.
• Assist in evacuation and emergency action planning for large facilities; maintain records.
