Job summary

The Deputy Fire Marshal at City of Pasadena oversees Fire Inspections, Investigations, and Public Education coordination. The role enforces fire laws, inspects facilities for hazards, and presents safety programs to schools, businesses, and the public.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Fire Inspector certification from TCFP required.
TCOLE Peace Officer certification required.
TCFP Fire Investigator certification within 2 years.
Arson Investigation license within 2 years.
Fire Prevention Education Specialist or SFMA Fire Prevention Specialist within 2 years.

Responsibilities

Conduct fire inspections of buildings and facilities to enforce fire codes and laws.
Investigate fire causes, gather evidence, and testify in court when needed.
Lead public education programs and coordinate fire safety training in schools and communities.
Coordinate volunteer firefighters and fire prevention activities (e.g., Pasadena Fire Safety House).
Present fire education programs to businesses, groups, and schools.
Attend seminars to stay updated on prevention practices.
