Job summary

The City of Corona is seeking a Fire Inspector I to support community safety through fire prevention, inspections, and code compliance. This role conducts inspections, identifies fire and life-safety hazards, reviews plans and permits, and works with businesses, property owners, and the public to promote compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; college courses in fire prevention or related topics preferred.
1 year of experience in building or fire inspection or related field; or equivalent training/experience.
OSFM Prevention 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D completion is desirable.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret plans for buildings and fire protection systems to ensure compliance.
Perform on-site inspections and prepare correction notices for deficiencies.
Prepare clear records and reports of findings and actions.
Review development plans and building construction plans for compliance with fire codes and regulations.
Inspect facilities for proper exits, fire lanes, electrical systems, and safety equipment; issue permits and maintain records.
