Job summary

City of Kissimmee is seeking a dedicated Fire Inspector to enforce the Florida Fire Prevention Code and inspect commercial properties for life safety compliance. The role involves reviewing plans, conducting thorough inspections, and educating the public on fire prevention.

You will prepare reports, issue permits, and coordinate with developers and inspectors as part of a team dedicated to community safety.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s Degree and one year of fire inspections/plan review experience.
• Must hold Florida Fire Safety Inspector I certification and a valid FL driver’s license.
• Must pass CJIS background checks and complete CJIS security training.
• Preferred NFPA Plan Reviewer I–III certifications; ongoing professional development encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Reviews site plans, construction drawings and shop drawings for fire code compliance.
• Inspects new construction and existing buildings for life safety code adherence.
• Prepares inspection reports and notes violations with recommendations.
• Responds to public complaints and prepares cases for Code Enforcement Board.
• Issues burn and fireworks permits; participates in fire prevention events.
• Maintains knowledge of codes and regulations; educates the public.
