Job summary

The City of Corona is seeking a Fire Inspector I to support community safety through fire prevention, inspections, and code compliance. This role conducts inspections, identifies hazards, reviews plans and permits, and collaborates with businesses, property owners, and the public to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, dedicated to public service, and passionate about fire prevention and community safety.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED; college-level fire prevention coursework is a plus
• One year of related inspection or plan-check experience or equivalent
• Desirable completion of OSFM Prevention 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and issue correction notices for deficiencies
• Prepare clear inspection reports and maintain related records
• Read and interpret laws, regulations, manuals, and related materials
• Review development and building plans for compliance with fire codes and regulations
• Inspect various structures for compliance with California Fire Code and Building Codes; ensure proper exits, fire lanes, and safety systems
