Job summary

The Hunton Group, through its Convergentz division in Houston, TX, seeks a Fire Alarm System Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate all projects so goals, time frames, and budgets are met. You will develop plans, assign tasks, track milestones, and report progress to clients and management.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of project management experience in fire safety, strong reading of design plans, and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 8–10 years of project management experience in fire safety equipment.
  • Strong reading of system design plans and construction drawings.
  • Ability to differentiate wire types and colors.
  • Proven safety, OSHA, ANSI, and regulatory compliance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate Fire Alarm System projects to meet goals and budgets.
  • Develop project plans with goals, staffing, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Assign duties, monitor progress, and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Prepare status reports and communicate with management and clients.
  • Forecast invoicing and project costs; ensure safe field operations.

Selected candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of all Fire Alarm System projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished. Come work for an industry leader that has been recognized both locally and nationally as one of Top Places to Work !ResponsibilitiesReviews project proposals to determine goals, time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.Develops project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.Formulates and defines technical scope and objectives of project.Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.Assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel.Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.Review’s status reports and modifies schedules and plans as required.Prepares project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.Manages project documentation and correspondence.Manages the project's development and oversee all project activities, coordination, schedules, scope of work, installation, plans and specifications (if applicable), deadlines, and verification.Generate customer billings and approve supplier invoices for assigned projects.Follow safety standards to the highest degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.Assist with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper coordination and cooperation for project completion.Provide feedback, track, and make a note of field change information for the project.Prepare monthly progress, financial, and other reports for assigned projects.Forecast monthly project invoicing and related costs.Prioritize, multitask, work well under pressure, work within a team atmosphere, and support other members of the team.Perform all business activities with integrity and at the highest ethical standards.QualificationsQualificationsHigh level of reading, interpreting, and applying system design plans, as well as building construction drawings and documents.Must be able to differentiate types and colors of electrical wire.Proven electro-mechanical aptitude (based on previous experience and/or education) and user PC/software skill.Experience ensuring compliance with safety, OSHA, ANSI, Federal Acquisition Regulation and other project-related rules and regulations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent networking skills, business-minded, change orientated, and pro-active.Excellent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record. Education and/or Experience RequiredBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management from a four-year college or university.8-10 years of experience in project management and servicing fire safety equipment.
