Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a dynamic Fire and Life Safety Consulting Engineer to join our Houston, TX team. The role focuses on leading design and mentoring on high-rise, campus, and healthcare projects, ensuring code compliance and technical excellence.

The ideal candidate holds a BS/MS in Fire Protection Engineering, a PE license, and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with strong communication and travel flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Proven experience (3 - 5 years) in the fire protection and life safety industry.
• Deep understanding of Building and Fire Codes, Standards, and Regulations (IBC, NFPA, UFC, OBO, etc).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of state-of-the-art fire protection and life safety systems.
• Provide building code consulting to clients and project teams.
• Mentor and guide junior staff on technical approaches.
• Review and approve project designs, calculations, and documentation.
• Stay current with evolving building codes and industry best practices.
