Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• EIT or FE Certification.
• 3 to 5+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior fire and life safety design experience.
• Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation of building code, life safety, and fire code requirements.
• Review of architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
• Negotiating with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
• Producing fire safety strategy documents to inform design process.
• Design of fire protection and life safety systems including sprinklers, detection, alarms, smoke management, and egress.
• Carry out fire engineering calculations from hand calculations to 3D modeling.
