Job summary

WSP seeks a capable Fire and Life Safety Engineer to join our Houston, TX team. You will develop fire protection concepts, guide clients through code compliance, and mentor project teams on design quality and regulatory alignment.

The role requires a FE/ PE credential, 3–5 years of experience, and familiarity with IBC, NFPA, UFC and related standards. Occasional travel may be needed as projects demand. WSP offers a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 3–5 years of proven experience in fire protection and life safety.
• Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes, Standards, and Regulations (IBC, NFPA, UFC, OBO).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop the design of state-of-the-art fire protection and life safety systems.
• Provide expert guidance to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies and technology.
• Lead building code consulting efforts for local, state, and national codes.
