WSP in Denver, CO is seeking a Full-Time Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer to join our growing team. You will interpret building code, NFPA and IBC requirements, review drawings, and be involved in fire protection and life safety system design, analysis, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor or Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, is EIT/FE-certified, and has 3–5+ years of post-education fire and life safety experience, with strong communication and

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
EIT or FE Certification.
3 to 5+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior fire and life safety design experience.
Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Interpretation of building code, life safety, and fire code requirements (ICC/NFPA, IBC, NFPA 101).
Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire codes.
Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs.
Produce fire safety strategy documents to guide design.
Design fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection, smoke management, egress).
Perform fire engineering calculations (hand to 3D modeling).
Assist in commissioning of fire protection systems.
Interface with the client and organize in-house resources.
