Job summary

The City of Richland Hills invites applications for a full-time firefighter position. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus firefighting and EMS experience. A valid Texas class B exempt or higher driver’s license and multiple TCFP certifications are required or obtainable within a year.

The city offers TMRS retirement and comprehensive health benefits. Applicants will be evaluated on firefighting proficiency, EMS credentials, and ability to meet certification timelines

• Hazardous Materials Technician Certification (TCFP) or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Driver/Operator Certification (TCFP).
• Instructor I Certification (TCFP).
• Fire Officer I Certification (TCFP).

Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. Three years of firefighting experience required. Four years of emergency medical (EMS) experience required. Possession of a valid Texas class “B” exempt or higher driver's license. Possession of a Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Intermediate Firefighter. Certification, or the ability to obtain within one year of appointment. Possession of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, or Licensed Paramedic Certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Possession of Texas Commission on Fire Protection Hazardous Materials Technician Certification, ability to obtain within 1 year of appointment. Possession of Texas Commission on Fire Protection Driver/Operator Certification. Possession of Texas Commission on Fire Protection Instructor I Certification. Possession of Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Officer I Certification.

Required Driver Test Information

The testing material will be over:

1. “Pumping and Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook Third Edition” #36723, (excluding Chapters 16-20),

The City of Richland Hills offers a competitive step plan depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position is $87,175.00 - $100,035.00. The City participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 7% employee deposit rate with a City matching ratio of 2:1. The City pays 100% of the employee’s medical, dental and term life insurance, and contributes 50% to dependent medical coverage. Employees receive paid vacation and sick leave, and eleven (11) paid holidays which accrue at the beginning of the year to be used at any time.
