Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a Driver/Engineer to perform emergency response duties, operate fire apparatus, and conduct inspections. The role supports fire suppression, rescue, EMS, and prevention activities and may assume Captain responsibilities when assigned.

Responsibilities include training, maintaining apparatus readiness, and providing high-level service in a demanding environment. 48/96 schedule and base salary details apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Three years of experience as a full-time firefighter.
• Driver/Operator certificate with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
• Instructor 1 certificate with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
• Officer 1 certificate with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
• Certified or Licensed Paramedic with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Current Class B Texas Driver’s License.

Job description

The Driver/Engineer performs emergency response duties in support of fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention activities. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fire department apparatus and equipment while maintaining a high level of operational readiness.

Primary responsibilities include driving and operating fire apparatus during emergency and non-emergency responses; operating pumps, tools, and specialized rescue equipment; performing daily apparatus and equipment inspections; and participating in fire suppression, rescue, EMS, training, and prevention activities. The Driver/Engineer assists with the training of department personnel, maintains knowledge of the response district, and ensures assigned apparatus and equipment remain clean, maintained, and ready for service.

The Driver/Engineer performs all duties of a Firefighter and may assume the responsibilities of a Captain when assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

$83,957.18 base annual salary (includes base pay and paid holidays)
FLSA overtime is paid in addition to the listed annual salary

Certificate Pay:
Intermediate Firefighter - $1,224.00 annually
Advanced Firefighter - $1,314.00 annually
Master Firefighter - $1,410.00 annually
Associate Degree - $720.00 annually
Bachelor’s Degree - $1,440.00 annually
FTO - $1,200.16 annually
