Job summary

The City of Livingston Fire Department is seeking a Fire Captain to lead a station during shifts, directing suppression, EMS, and prevention activities. You will supervise personnel, train crews, and ensure readiness of apparatus and equipment in a fast-paced urban setting.

Ideal candidates bring two years of supervisory fire service experience, EMT certification, and strong incident command skills to maintain safety and public protection.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fire suppression and prevention methods including the Incident Command System.
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate fire personnel.
• Certification requirements include EMT, CPR/AED, and Driver/Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and participate in fire suppression, rescue, EMS, and prevention activities.
• Respond to incidents and assume command per ICS.
• Supervise station personnel and ensure apparatus readiness.
• Provide public education on fire safety and preparedness.
• Maintain records and assist in budget-related tasks.
