Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Service Technician in Houston, TX to troubleshoot, repair and program Fire and Life Safety systems for commercial clients. You will diagnose faults, verify circuit integrity, and generate repair reports in line with NFPA standards while communicating clearly with customers and team members.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in the field, NFPA 72 knowledge, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years experience in repair or systems technician role in Fire Life & Safety.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, including smoke control, GUIs, and networked solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting circuit opens, shorts, and ground conditions.
• Able to program/repair fire alarm systems using a laptop.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72 code requirements.
• Knowledge of Article 760 of NFPA 70 for installation of fire systems.
• Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements for testing fire alarm systems.
• Ability to explain equipment operation to customers and how to respond to signals.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physically fit for lifting up to 25 pounds, occasional up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Fire and Life Safety systems, including conventional, addressable, voice systems, smoke control, and networked solutions.
• Use troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
• Ensure maximum system detection and alarm coverage after repairs.
• Produce repair reports in accordance with NFPA for customer acceptance and billing.
• Program systems via laptop computers.
• Ensure Fire Alarm circuit integrity.
• Assist in managing vehicle inventory and repair tools.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
