A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am—3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform inspection, testing and commissioning of fire and life safety (FLS) systems.
  • Assure compliance with hospital policy/procedures, local, state, and federal codes.
  • Maintain and safely use all assigned materials, tools, and equipment, protecting patients, visitors, and caregivers.
  • Effectively interact with employees, contractors, and end users when performing assigned tasks, adapting to all changes relative to the scope of work.
  • Thoroughly document and maintain records of inspections and work performed.
  • Follow FLS standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize electrical and electronic testing devices to inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm systems and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, repair, and advise on system malfunctions and operational requirements.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State of Ohio Certification for Fire Alarm Detection.
  • State of Ohio Certification for Automatic Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems (attainable within 2 years).
  • State of Ohio Certification for Fire Pumps (attainable within 2 years).
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Four years of experience in electronics and fire alarm systems (two in an institutional setting).

Preferred qualifications include:

  • NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology/Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Experience in commercial/industrial settings.
