A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am-3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  1. Perform inspection, testing, and commissioning of fire and life safety (FLS) systems.
  2. Assure compliance with hospital policy/procedures, local, state, and federal codes.
  3. Maintain and safely use all assigned materials, tools, and equipment, protecting patients, visitors, and caregivers.
  4. Effectively interact with employees, contractors, and end users when performing assigned tasks, adapting positively to all changes related to the scope of work.
  5. Thoroughly document and maintain records of inspections and work performed, following departmental policies and vendor requirements.
  6. Follow FLS standard operating procedures.
  7. Utilize electrical and electronic testing devices to inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems and peripheral devices.
  8. Troubleshoot, analyze, repair, and advise on system malfunctions and operational requirements.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. State of Ohio Certification for Fire Alarm Detection through the Department of Commerce/Division of State Fire Marshal.
  3. State of Ohio Certification for Automatic Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems, or ability to attain within 2 years.
  4. State of Ohio Certification for Fire Pumps, or ability to attain within 2 years.
  5. Valid Ohio Driver's License (VDL).
  6. Four years of experience in electronics and fire alarm systems, with at least two years in an institutional setting.

Preferred qualifications include:

  1. Fire Protection Engineering Technology/Fire Alarm Systems certification through NICET.
  2. Experience in commercial/industrial settings.
