Job summary

Apex Systems in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Technician for on-site work. The role focuses on programming, commissioning, testing, and documenting fire alarm systems to meet AHJ approvals and NFPA standards.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in fire detection/protection, strong low voltage/electrical background, and literacy with laptop-based programming. NICET certification is a plus; drive to train teammates is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent technical training. Certifications are highly regarded.
• Two to five years of technician experience in fire detection/protection expected.
• Proficiency in programming and commissioning fire alarm systems using laptops. NFPA 72 familiarity requested.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales for project success.
• Produce field surveys and document daily project activity logs.
• Program, commission, and obtain final acceptance of fire alarm systems from customers and AHJs.
• Generate commissioning and inspection reports per NFPA standards.
• Troubleshoot system issues to ensure quick resolutions.
• Maintain project schedules and inventories; provide on-site guidance to technicians.
